Product Overview
Item Description
Product Description Crafted in Philadelphia around 1760, these Queen Anne-style dining chairs were originally part of a larger set. The side chairs are solid Cherry, and the armchairs are Mahogany. Kindel has reproduced them in the same materials. The side chair features additional egg-and-dart ornamentation at the bottom of the splat and is considered by many scholars and collectors to be one of the finest examples of the Queen Anne- style in Philadelphia. Its mate sold at Christie s in 2002 for $666,000, a world record for a single wooden side chair. The hand-carved elements (shells, volutes, acanthus leaves, and ball-and-claw feet) of Kindel s reproduction have faithfully captured the appearance of the originals.
