Product Description Cabinet. Quartered Oak Veneer with Coastal Wave Finish Cerused Oak. Hand Painted, Canvas Wrapped Doors. Encaustic Medieval Tile Pattern in Relief. Pewter Base. Grey Painted Interior with Three Adjustable Shelves
Collection Features This cabinet celebrates texture and material variation. The quartered oak veneered case provides a sophisticated but neutral background for the dramatic statement of its doors. The doors are inspired by Medieval encaustic tiles designed by A.W.N. Pugin (1812-1852) but transformed via a modern colour palette and a unique technique of raised hand-painting in relief on canvas. The texture of the background and the raised painting add a tactility and sculptural nature to the otherwise flat surfaces. The raised base is applied with silver leaf and a vintage pewter finish, adding a lightness to the appearance. Designed by Anthony Cox for Theodore Alexander as part of a larger collection.
